Image Compressor

Compress PNG, JPEG, and WebP source images into JPEG or WebP without uploading them. Adjust quality, compare before and after previews, and see the actual file size savings while keeping the image dimensions.

Compress an image locally

PNG, JPEG, or WebP up to 10 MiB, 8192 pixels per side, and 16 megapixels. Images stay in your browser.

Lower quality usually gives smaller files, with more visible loss.

Dimensions are preserved. Metadata is removed and animation becomes a single still frame. JPEG flattens transparency onto white.

Compress an image to compare the original and output.

JPEG and WebP compression with a quality slider

This compressor re-encodes the image using your browser’s JPEG or WebP encoder. Lower quality trades image detail for file size; the same quality percentage does not guarantee the same appearance or size across formats or browsers. Inspect the preview before downloading, especially for text, sharp edges, and gradients.

Actual savings, not a guaranteed reduction

An already optimized image may become larger after re-encoding. The result compares the exact original and output byte counts and explicitly reports when there are no savings. Pixel dimensions stay unchanged; use an image resizer separately if you also want to reduce width or height.

Transparency, animation, and metadata

JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas become white. WebP can retain alpha transparency. Conversion exports one still image rather than preserving animation and discards source metadata such as camera details. This is not a lossless PNG optimizer and does not preserve every feature of the original file.

Private browser-only image processing

The source image is decoded and processed locally. Only PNG, JPEG, and WebP raster uploads are accepted, with limits of 10 MiB, 8192 pixels per side, and 16 megapixels total. If your browser cannot encode WebP, select JPEG; the tool will not silently provide a different file format under a WebP filename.
