Favicon Generator

Convert a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image into website favicon files locally in your browser. Download a real multi-size ICO, 16×16 and 32×32 PNG favicons, a 180×180 Apple touch icon, and 192×192 and 512×512 PNG icons.

Create your favicon files

PNG, JPEG, or WebP up to 10 MB and 16 megapixels. A square source of at least 512×512 pixels works best. Your image stays in your browser.

Generate files to preview and download each size.

Favicon sizes for browser tabs and home screens

The favicon.ico download contains 16×16 and 32×32 bitmap entries with alpha transparency. PNG files provide separate sizes for browser icons, Apple touch icons, and web app icon assets. Copy the supplied HTML link tags into your page head and upload the downloaded files to the matching paths. Web app installation also needs an appropriate manifest; icon images do not replace it.

Keep small icons clear and recognizable

Use a simple high-contrast logo, preferably a square source at least 512 pixels wide. Fit preserves the complete image with padding; fill crops the edges without stretching. Transparent backgrounds preserve source transparency, while white or black backgrounds flatten the image. Inspect the 16 pixel result at its actual size: fine text and intricate details often disappear.

Private image conversion without uploads

Your browser decodes and resizes the selected raster image. No image is sent to a server. SVG is deliberately not accepted by this tool. Source files are limited to 10 MB, 8192 pixels per side, and 16 megapixels total. Animated inputs produce a single still icon, not an animated favicon.

Why is my old favicon still showing?

Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Check that the icon URL loads correctly, reload the site, and clear the relevant browser cache if needed. During a replacement, a changed filename or versioned URL can help the browser discover the updated icon.
