Code 128 supports common text and numbers for internal labels. Code 39 supports uppercase letters, digits, and a restricted set of symbols. EAN-13 uses 12 data digits plus a check digit; UPC-A uses 11 data digits plus a check digit. Supply the data digits to calculate the checksum, or include the full number to validate it.
Creating an EAN or UPC image does not register a product number or make a random identifier suitable for retail use. Use an appropriately assigned identifier for commercial products. Preserve the white margins and test with the intended scanner before printing labels.
