Generators & Identifiers

MAC Address Generator

Create random 48-bit MAC addresses for network fixtures, virtual devices, and development tests. Choose colon, hyphen, Cisco dotted, or plain hexadecimal formatting.

Generate MAC addresses

Random 48-bit, locally administered unicast addresses. These do not identify an assigned hardware vendor.

Locally administered unicast addresses

The generator sets the locally administered bit and clears the multicast bit in the first byte. These addresses do not claim a hardware manufacturer’s assigned prefix. They are suitable for test environments and virtual interfaces where locally assigned addresses are accepted.

Formatting and uniqueness

Choose uppercase or lowercase output and generate up to 100 addresses at once. Different separators represent the same six bytes. Random generation does not reserve addresses or guarantee uniqueness across networks; check for collisions before assigning them in a real network.
